openers Terms of Use

Effective date: October 20, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and DUATECH LLC ("we", "us"), of Phoenix, Arizona, USA. They cover the openers app and the openers.app website. By using openers you accept them. They're written in plain words on purpose, and plain words still count.

What changed in 4.0

openers 4.0 adds AI-written decks, Plan (a beta for making plans with your people), deck feedback and card reports. These terms now say what you may write and share, how AI-written decks work, and how reports work. There are no accounts in 4.0, and deck sharing isn't part of it. Question Video is new. Mini pods are still there, as an experiment in customize.

What openers is

openers is a question game with more than 10,000 conversation starters, sorted by topic. The cards work offline. You can also have AI write a custom deck from a short brief, make plans with the people you connect with in Plan, and record Question Videos and mini pods on your phone.

No accounts

You don't need an account to use openers, and 4.0 has none. Some features use our servers, as our Privacy Policy explains. You're responsible for how your phone uses openers.

AI-written decks

When you say yes to the cloud writer, your brief and settings go to our server and the AI companies named in the Privacy Policy, which write and check the questions. On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence, you can have this iphone write the deck on the phone instead.

AI-written decks stay clean unless your brief clearly asks for swearing. Our server decides, and it keeps decks clean when someone under 18 may be playing. The writer also keeps decks at a 16+ level: if a brief asks for sexual questions, it writes flirty ones instead.

AI-written questions can be wrong, awkward or not right for your group, even after our checks. Read a deck before you play it with others. Don't rely on openers for medical, legal, money, safety or other professional advice.

AI-written decks come with limits, shown in the app, such as how many decks you can make for free and how many a subscription includes each month. We may change these limits. Writing may pause when an AI company is down, or when a cost or abuse limit is reached. The cards and the decks already on your phone keep working.

What you write and share

You keep any rights you have in what you write: briefs, plans, notes and feedback. You give DUATECH LLC permission to store, copy, process and show that content only as needed to run openers. That includes sending a brief to the AI companies that write your deck, and showing a plan to the people you share it with. This permission ends when the content is deleted from our active systems, except for copies we must keep for security, a legal duty or a report we're reviewing.

Don't put another person's private information in a brief, plan or note without their permission. Anything you share in Plan can be seen, passed on or screenshotted by the people you share it with. If you share a plan with everyone, they can repost it to their own circle unless you turn reposts off for that plan.

Rules for what you write and share

Briefs, plans, notes and feedback must not:

A respectful question about dating or sex isn't against the rules. Exploitation, illegal explicit material, threats, doxxing and targeted abuse are.

Content in openers

Some decks, like Pillow Talk, are about dating and sex. Pillow Talk is written by us for adults and stays non-explicit. openers doesn't check ages, so pick decks that fit everyone playing.

Reports and moderation

You can report a card in a cloud-written deck from inside the app, and a card on a shared deck page on openers.app. If someone sends you an older deck link, you can hide its maker or report the deck from the deck's menu. In Plan, you can mute or remove anyone at any time. To report a person or a plan, email support@opnrs.app.

We may review reports, remove content, or limit cloud features for a phone, for example by pausing deck writing, when it's reasonably needed to protect people, openers or the service. We keep only what we need to review a report or meet a legal duty. If you think we got it wrong, email support@opnrs.app.

Your license to use openers

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app and its content on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. The question library, the app, its design and the openers name belong to us. You may read questions out loud anywhere, including at events you host. You may not copy the question library out of the app, scrape it, resell it, republish it as your own, or use it to build a competing product.

An AI-written deck is yours to play and keep. It doesn't give you ownership of the openers app, the question library, our writing system, our design or our trademarks.

Purchases, subscriptions and trials

Some content is free. Full access may be sold as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. If a subscription starts with a free trial and you don't cancel before the trial ends, billing starts through your store account.

Apple or Google handles all payments. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your store settings. Refunds follow the store's rules and are requested from the store, not from us. If you reinstall openers or get a new phone, use restore purchases in the app to get back a purchase made through Apple or Google. If you got free access as an early Android tester without buying anything, it stays only on the phone you have now.

Question Video, mini pods and your recordings

Question Videos and mini pods are recordings you make on your own phone. A finished Question Video is saved to your photos unless you turn that off on its done screen. A mini pod is always saved to your photos. You own your recordings, and they stay on your phone unless you share them. You're responsible for getting permission from the people you record, following the laws where you record, and choosing where you share. openers doesn't receive or store your recordings.

Other acceptable use

Don't use openers in ways that are unlawful, infringe another person's rights, impersonate someone, falsely claim a connection to openers or DUATECH LLC, get around a limit, or try to break, probe, scrape or overload the app or its services.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy says what stays on your phone, what our cloud features send and keep, and how to delete it. When you use a cloud feature, you ask us and the companies named there to handle the data needed to provide it.

The app stores' terms

Your download is also covered by the terms of the store you got it from. Apple's or Google's terms apply to the download, the purchase and your store account. Where those terms conflict with these terms, these terms govern your relationship with us, as far as the law allows.

If you got openers from Apple's App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for openers, its content, its support, or any claims about it. If openers fails to match any warranty that applies, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if any; beyond that, Apple has no warranty duty. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.

Disclaimers

openers is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard on it, but we don't promise it will always be available, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. We don't promise that every question, written by us or by AI, is accurate, right for every room or free of third-party claims. How your conversations go is, happily, up to you and the people you talk to.

Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, DUATECH LLC isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages from your use of openers. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for openers in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some places don't allow these limits; there, they apply only as far as the law allows.

If something goes wrong, talk to us first

If you have a dispute with us, email support@opnrs.app first. Most problems can be fixed in one conversation, and we'll work on it in good faith for 30 days before either side starts formal proceedings. We don't require arbitration. You keep the right to bring a claim in small claims court.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Arizona handle disputes that can't be resolved informally, except where the law of your country gives you protections and the right to go to court where you live; those stay yours.

Ending or changing things

You can stop using openers at any time. To remove data from your phone, delete it in the app (deleted decks wait in archives for 30 days) or delete the app. To remove what your phone sent us, tap delete what this phone shared in the custom openers settings, and leave plan in Plan. Cancel a subscription in your store settings.

We may limit or suspend access that breaks these terms or threatens the service. We may update these terms. If we make a big change, we'll update the date above and say so in the app or the release notes. If you keep using openers after new terms take effect, you accept them.
